Fun With Nicknames

Little Gryphon has inherited the infamous family moniker of Monkey’s Bug. Of course there’s the nickname Gryphy, as well as Dolly Faced Baby and The Baby. As in, The Baby, come and eat your high fiber cereal. I love you very much, The Baby. Use of “The Baby” as a nickname has, unfortunately, tapered off in recent months now that The Baby is three and one-half. Sigh. The way I look at it, giving yourself a home mani-pedi will save you about $30.00! (I’m a good tipper, so for me a visit to the nail salon can cost even more.) If you pick up a nice glow from the sun, you’re saving $20.00 for a tanning or spray tanning session. If your child can be entertained outside by bubbles and lawn toys, you’ve just pocketed another $20.00 for child care! No need to pay a nanny or babysitter while you go and get your nails did… you can just hang out with your child while you both get some quality time outdoors.* It’s a win-win situation. Saturday in the Park

I think the nicest part was having a few hours to chill with Greg. He’s been so busy lately with work, he didn’t even take Easter Sunday off. We took turns bouncing our youngest on all the playground equipment and pushing him on the swing. I think the kids were a little amazed that Dad was spending leisure time with all of us. For a while, Greg lounged in the grass and caught some rays on his muscular calves. It was a nice thing to see.… Continue Reading

Time to Just Be

Back to my happy place. My sister is a magical creature (a diva in the vocal sense, not the self-involved sense) who regularly charms the karaoke room and has actually sang with a band on more than one occasion. If she lived in the town where she’d sang with the band, she’d probably be their regular vocalist. I can carry a tune, and my voice is decent, I guess, but I’ve always had a problem with projecting/ being heard when there are other singers/ musicians in the room. But our plan is me doing the guitar & backup vocals and her singing lead. She thinks we’ll be famous- I don’t care. I’m in it for love of music and for fun. Oh yes. One more thing.
