Possibly the Hardest Habit to Break

I’ve defeated other addictions in the past (that is for another post. Or maybe not.) I will say that sugar is the hardest addiction I’ve worked to conquer yet, as almost everyone around me partakes in it. It is so ubiquitous.Continue Reading

Homemade Honey & Almond Facial Scrub

Although I haven’t tried it yet, it would feel like a super luxurious spa day if I were to use this as a whole body scrub. I also want to try it over my entire back, where my skin tends to be a bit neglected. It could be applied with a back brush. I’ll just have to have my husband hose me off in the backyard when I’m finished. Just kidding. I’ll risk a hot shower.Continue Reading

Too Much Time Indoors

On Saturday, I finally went back to yoga after skipping for almost a month. I am still sore and that was 3 days ago.Continue Reading

Let’s Go to the Snow!

Gryphon immediately began to wail the moment his hands touched the snow. I guess he hadn’t been prepared for its cold sting on his soft baby skin. My dad and I couldn’t help but laugh at this as I brushed the snow dust off of Gryphy’s icy little hands and slipped a pair of socks, the makeshift mittens I’d brought, onto them. As you can see from the photos, we don’t own much gear to properly outfit us for snowy environments.Continue Reading

Despite Our Heavy Hearts, Wishing You Peace and Love This Season

I believe that the sweet precious little angels would not want any of us to be sad for too long. They wouldn’t want to let whatever form of mental illness that the person (I can’t bring myself to call him a man, and person is a stretch, too- idiot, maybe?) who took their lives was going through to sicken our spirits this holiday season. I am not saying to forget about these sweet babies. We can honor, respect and cherish them as our own children. The purest of souls would want for us to enjoy this holiday with empathy, gratitude, love and light.Continue Reading

The Upside of Pain

Pain, in certain forms, can be viewed as a message from the universe, the Divine or however you relate to that infinite force (if you believe in that sort of thing) letting us know that some sort of change is needed. Silently, yet insistently telling us that we need to work a little harder at maintaining balance. Even if we don’t recognize it, at first, and it just feels like a major inconvenience.Continue Reading

My Gradual Recovery! (or, Keep Off the Gluten)

A dear friend recently brought over one of those green bottled beverages that resemble pond scum. Once I got past the way it looked, I discovered that I loved it. I wanted to marry it. But since I am already married, I at least wanted to have it in my life on a regular basis.Continue Reading

My Crappy Energy Crash

Of course, there was also the possibility (however slight) of Celiac disease, which would obviously make one feel tired and malnourished. My curiosity was piqued enough to at least give a gluten-free diet a try. Despite my former skepticism and inward eye-rolling at a friend who in previous years had claimed to have “gluten sensitivity”, thinking she was just looking for attention, and/or a need to feel special and different from everybody else, (I know. What kind of friend am I? In that instance, I’ll admit I was wrong.) I decided to give it a go…Continue Reading
